Racing for HoPE
Did you know that Families for HoPE has a presence in the motorsports industry?  Check out some of the drivers who are using their racing careers to raise awareness of HPE!

Josh Timmerman, Indianapolis, Indiana

Late Model Driver

In 2006, late model racer Josh Timmerman approached Families for HoPE with an idea to use his race car to raise awareness of HPE after learning about the condition from his mother, Debbie, who is a home health nurse. Since that time, 24 year-old Josh has been committed to supporting the organization not only with his race car, but he has also been actively involved as a volunteer when possible to attend HPE conferences, visit kids with HPE in Indianapolis hospitals, and make himself available for special events. In 2011, Josh became a member of the board of directors of Families for HoPE.

For the 2012 season, Josh is racing in the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Sportsman series.  You can learn more about Josh at www.JoshTimmerman.com.

Kyle Gimple, Minden, Nevada
GRAND AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series

20 year-old race car driver Kyle Gimple has been personally affected by HPE.  Kyle's cousin, Lexi, was born with HPE, and in her short life of 4 1/2 she made such an impact on Kyle's life that he has chosen to use his professional racing career as a platform to help bring awareness to HPE.

As a road course driver for RSR Motorsports, Kyle drives a MINI Cooper S in the Street Tuner class of the GRAND AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series. We welcome Kyle to the Families for HoPE team of drivers. You can learn more about Kyle at www.KyleGimpleRacing.com.

Ken Wilson and family

 Ken Wilson, Crandon, Wisconsin
Super Stock Truck Driver

Ken Wilson has been racing for many years, but racing took on a new meaning when his youngest son, Jack, was born with holoprosencephaly.  Today, Ken uses his truck to raise awareness of HPE as he races in the TRAXXAS TORC Off-Road Championship Series in the Super Stock Truck division.

Ken and his wife Becky have three children--Charlie, Breanna, and Jack.

Kraig Bontrager, Middleburry, Indiana
Super Truck Driver

Kraig Bontrager has been racing since 2009, and he has been representing Families for HoPE since the beginning of his career. As a rookie driver, Kraig began driving in Indianapolis in the Advance Racing Association Pro Trucks division. After a move to northern Indiana, Kraig now races the #49 Chevy Super Truck in northern Indiana and southern Michigan in the USST Great Lakes series.
